Justin Laliberte At The Age Of 20!

Founder Gord Burwash’s Great Grand Father Justin Laliberte.

Justin was born in the year 1860, near Pembina, North Dakota, he was the great grandson of Jean Baptiste Lagmodiere, a very famous “Coureur–de–Bois”.

Justin was fourteen years of age when he got a job with the Hudson Bay Company, freighting flour from Winnipeg Manitoba, Fort Gary to Edmonton Alberta, six 100 lbs bags of flour in a Red River Cart and a team of Oxen, this trip took him almost the whole summer in the year 1874 into the year 1879.

He had stated that there were still a few large buffalo herds roaming the Prairies.

Justin was a cattle farmer. He passed away in the year 1954 at the age of 93. This man watched the country grow, the Red River Cart pulled by Oxen’s, the Horse and Buggy, to Cars with gas engines. This man watched and helped our Great Country Canada grow.
